At S.U.C.C.E.ED. we encourage development through the use of structured play. With the holidays around the corner, we compiled a list of our toys. Here are some toys that promote solitary and/or spectator play skills Solitary Play: 0-24 months. This is the stage when a child plays alone. They are not interested in playing with others quite yet. Not always noticing other children around them. Spectator Play: 24-30 months. A child will observe other children playing.
Here are some toys that promote associative-cooperative play Associative Play: 36-48 months. A child starts to interact with others during play, but there is not a large amount of interaction. They start to turn-take, interest in small group activities, resolve conflicts and have imaginative play. They want to know how and why things work. Start having friends (preferred child). Cooperative Play: 48+ months. A child plays together with others and has interest in both the activity and other children involved in playing. There is shared goal, play is organized, and participants have assigned roles.
